Hey there, folks!
So, in our parking lot and many places around I have noticed something interesting – some people are placing bottles filled with blue solution on their cars or places where they move around. Using bottles filled with blue color solution to scare or repel dogs is a common belief or myth that they believe in. However, there is no scientific evidence to support the effectiveness of this method in deterring dogs or keeping them away from a particular area.
You see, dogs have dichromatic vision, meaning they see the world in shades of blue and yellow. They have less color receptors in their eyes compared to humans. So, the thought behind the blue-colored water is that it might create the illusion of a large body of water. People think that dogs, seeing shades of blue, might mistake the blue water for a pool of water or something similar, scaring them away. The belief is that dogs naturally avoid water bodies, so they would stay away from the blue-colored area.
However, here's the catch – while color plays a part in how dogs perceive their environment, it's not the only factor. Dogs rely heavily on their keen sense of smell and hearing to navigate the world around them. So, while some people swear by the effectiveness of the blue solution, it's doubtful that it can consistently deter dogs.
Also I've noticed that some folks in our community have a dislike or even fear of dogs. Maybe they've had bad experiences with aggressive or stray dogs in the past, which makes them want to keep the dogs away from themselves.
Well, let's not forget, dogs are living beings too. For dealing with stray dogs, we should focus on humane and safe methods. First, we should never try to harm or scare them away. We do that and then expect the dog to behave normal. Having respect towards wildlife is important. Instead, consider contacting local animal control or a nearby animal shelter. They are equipped to handle stray dogs and will ensure they are treated appropriately and, if needed, find them a safe place to stay.
So, let's approach the situation with a broader understanding of dogs' behaviors and use more humane methods to deal with any dog-related issues. Together, we can create a safe and compassionate environment for everyone.
Lots of love to all the Hooman's who look after the furry buddies.
