Puberty - Book Recommendation

As an educator, I recommend books that explain the changes that occur during puberty for both boys and girls. These books are designed to provide age-appropriate information and address various topics related to puberty in a sensitive and informative manner as a comic.

1. FOR BOYS (Age group: 9 years and above)

"Gulu: The Fun Guide to Puberty for Boys" by Dr. Sharmila Majumdar and Dr. Arnab Majumdar:

Buy Here: Gulu (for boys)

This book is specifically written for boys and aims to answer all the questions they might have about body changes, emotions, consent, bullying, physical attraction, masturbation, addiction, and more. It approaches these topics in a culturally-sensitive manner, helping boys understand and navigate the challenges of puberty in a healthy and informed way.

2. FOR GIRLS (Age group: 9 years and above)

"Menstrupedia Comic" by Aditi Gupta and Tuhin Paul:

Buy here: Menstrupedia (for girls)

This book is designed to provide information about menstruation to girls. It uses a comic book format to explain the menstrual cycle, periods, hygiene practices, and emotional aspects related to menstruation. The book is age-appropriate and aims to remove the stigma and taboo surrounding periods, empowering girls to understand and embrace this natural phase of their lives.

Both books offer engaging and informative content, helping students navigate the changes and challenges they experience during puberty. They encourage open discussions and provide a platform for students to ask questions, seek clarity, and develop a healthy understanding of their bodies and emotions.

The same team also developed

Adi & Anku, a body safety guide for preschoolers. (3 to 6 years of age)

The comic book is designed to be engaging and effective in itself without requiring assistance from an adult.
